TEN YEARS OF VISUAL EFFECTS
The Senate Visual Effects, a boutique London-based studio, has announced expansion plans coinciding with its tenth anniversary in the entertainment industry. The facility, which began as an independent group of artists working on the award-winning series “Band of Brothers,” has transformed into a well-established company best known for creating digital environments that enhance or completely stand in for unattainable film and broadcast locations. To mark The Senate’s ten successful years the company is adding a Soho studio, which will add efficiency and convenience for clients who previously worked directly at The Senate’s Twickenham Studios location.

KICK-ASS
The Senate are pleased to announce that they have delivered 246 shots for Matthew Vaughn’s gritty superhero tale Kick-Ass. From a burning warehouse where the Senate had to composite multiple flame elements into the scene to create the feel of danger, to key fight sequences including the bloody slaughter of gang members that required the addition of blood and 3D blades, to several monitor inserts and background composites.

FROM TIME TO TIME
The Senate have recently completed all the VFX shots and on set supervision for Julian Fellowes’ latest film From Time to Time. Set in wartime England, our young hero finds himself able to travel back in time to solve an age-old family mystery. This required The Senate to create ghost effects for the lead characters as well as adding an additional annex to Athelhampton House and creating effects for a key sequence during the film.

ANGELS & DEMONS
The Senate are pleased to announce that they have delivered 171 shots for Angels and Demons, Ron Howard’s sequel to The Da Vinci Code. The Senate created a complete CG build of the interior of the Pantheon, which was then used to composite over 30 greenscreen shots, both part and full CG. We also delivered a number of greenscreen composites with CG and matte painting set extensions.

HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY
Working closely with groundbreaking director Guillermo del Toro, The Senate has delivered 93 shots for Hellboy II. This epic return for the red-skinned saviour of humanity introduces fantastic new characters such as the mysterious Angel of Death and incredible new locations like the forgotten city of Bethmoora.

THE HESSEN AFFAIR
The Senate have delivered over a hundred shots for The Hessen Affair, a crime thriller set at the close of World War II. After two American officers locate the hiding place of the German crown jewels they decide to fence them in New York… only for the Royal family to discover the theft and attempt to locate their family’s treasure. Directed by Paul Breuls.

SLEUTH
The Senate provided make-up fixes and monitor additions and designs for director Kenneth Branagh to bring this game of one-upmanship and psychological warfare to the screen. July 2007. The Senate has delivered all 72 VFX shots for Sleuth.

August 2007
DOOMSDAY
The Senate has delivered 30 shots for Doomsday, the science fiction horror tale of a deadly plague and it’s insane survivors. The Senate worked on many varied shots for director Neil Marshall, from a fully CG eye that can be removed from its socket and be used as a video camera to arrow-firing cannibals.

INKHEART DELIVERED
Senate VFX have worked closely with VFX Designer Angus Bickerton to deliver a number of shots for this project due to release next year

10,000BC DELIVERED
The Senate have delivered 105 shots and title sequence for 10,000BC, the new Roland Emmerich blockbuster. Working with ‘Day After Tomorrow’ visual effects supervisor, Karen Goulekas The Senate provided blue screen composites, CG breath and CG make-up design and fixes.

BOURNE ULTIMATUM
The Senate has been awarded a number of shots for Bourne Ultimatum. Supervisor Pete Chiang was delighted to bring more work to The Senate following their successful completion of Stardust earlier this year. Work on Bourne has begun and is due to be completed in July.

DOOMSDAY
The Senate are pleased to announce they have started work on Doomsday. Written and directed by Neil Marshall, the futuristic action thriller will hit the big screens early next year.

SLEUTH AWARD
The Senate are delighted to have been awarded the vfx shots for the new Michael Caine, Jude Law film Sleuth. Work has begun and is due to be completed by the end of the month.

1408 DELIVERED
The Senate is delighted to have delivered over 70 shots for the upcoming Stephen King thriller 1408, due for release this summer.

ROME II DELIVERED
Following their award winning vfx for HBO/BBC’s series Rome, The Senate has delivered nearly 100 shots for series II, which is already airing in America to much acclaim. Series II will be aired on the BBC later this spring.

28 WEEKS LATER
In a little over three weeks The Senate delivered over 30 shots for sci-fi thriller 28 Weeks Later, which has a May UK release.

LOST
Lost came to London for both the story and their visual effects. The Senate are proud to have delivered a number of shots for episode 8 of series 3, which placed the characters in central London.

STARDUST DELIVERY
The Senate has delivered over 80 shots for Matthew Vaughn’s forthcoming feature Stardust.The film staring Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer is due for release later in 2007.

CLOSING THE RING COMPLETED
The Senate is proud to have delivered a number of shots for Richard Attenborough’s new film Closing the Ring, which is due for release later this year.

2006 EMMY AWARDS
The Senate Visual Effects’ award winning team have done it again.Their work on the HBO/BBC production ‘Rome’ has been honoured with an Emmy for Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series. 2005 EMMY AWARDS.
HBO's "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers" has won the Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Miniseries or a Special.Visual Effects Supervisor Joe Pavlo, Visual Effects Producer Barrie Hemsley, Lead 3D artist Robin Huffer, Lead 3D animator Andrew Macleod, Lead Compositor Paul Tuersley and Lead Compositor Neil Culley were at the ceremony to receive the award.

ROMAN DELIVERY.
HBO and the BBC unite to co-produce a major mini-series about ancient Rome.Filmed at Cinecitta Studios and locations around Rome, the series took over 8 months to shoot. The Senate has produced the majority of the shots designed to show the rise of an Empire with unflinching realism. The first series of 10 episodes is planned to be broadcast on the BBC and HBO in Autumn 2005.

DELIVERING THE DARK KNIGHT.
The Senate has delivered all it's shots for Christopher Nolan's brand new exploration of the origins of the Dark Knight in "Batman Begins".Sean Farrow worked closely with VFX Supervisor Janek Sirrs to create numerous effects shots including the destruction of Wayne manor and the famous bat logo.
